(Closed) Mama-To-Be Gift Guide: LilyPadz Review & Giveaway Ends 10/5

LilyPadz was the idea of breastfeeding mom, Tina Bruce. Frustrated with leaking and current products available, she began experimenting. Tape and Band-Aids were not going to cut it. She found silicone to be safe and incredibly effective and began developing what is now a very unique, well-designed nursing pad for moms.
I received a LilyPadz Starter Kit to review. After a little skepticism, I found that these have to be one of the neatest, most innovative ideas for new moms I've seen. LilyPadz are very thin, silicone nursing pads that adhere to the breast, put pressure on the nipple, and stop leaking breastmilk.

The Starter Kit contains one set of LilyPadz, LilyWash, and LilyWipes. The adhesive lining of the LilyPadz is renewed with proper washing with the specially formulated LilyWash and hot water. This oil cutting soap is important to use to effectively wash away oils and lint that interfere with the stickiness of the inner layer of the LilyPadz. LilyWipes are a great alternative to the LilyWash if you are on the go and between feedings, but does not replace regular washing with LilyWash.
Traditional reusable and disposable nursing pads soak up leaking breast milk, and eventually the wetness can cause skin irritation. Often times that also comes with the lovely rotten milk smell that's unmistakable (well, at least I noticed I smelled like that ALL the time with Buddy!). They're also quite bulky, and despite my larger chest size from breastfeeding, regular nursing pads would create a lumpy chest and would often times stick out the top of my bra too. Dried up milk in nursing pads would become hard and scratchy too. Not fun! Figuring out how to care for a newborn can be a challenging time for new parents. Breastfeeding often comes with it owns learning curve, and counting on leaking boobs can be added to that list too. But when your milk supply is established and you're beginning to create a routine, why not have a product that can solve this annoying and often uncomfortable issue? Geez, let's ENCOURAGE breastfeeding by using products like LilyPadz that make the not-so-pleasant parts a little easier!
Because they are so thin, LilyPadz are surprisingly comfortable and you won't even know they are on (my sister-in-law told me so!). They have a curved shape, and will not be noticeable or lumpy under your clothing. LilyPadz are breathable, latex-free and are a great alternative to traditional reusable or disposable breast pads. LilyPadz will not show through your clothes, and can even be worn with swimwear. These can also be worn overnight, and even without a bra since they adhere well to the breast. Let's be truthful here. Another issue I had when Buddy was an infant was that my nursing/pumping nipples would show through thin bras MUCH more than non-nursing nipples. LilyPadz also effectively smooth and press the nipple inward so you can achieve a seamless look. I remember when Buddy was an infant, I would have to drop everything and use the palms of my hands to press in to stop a let-down from watering my bra and shirt before a feeding. I was already hard pressed for a good, full supply, so wasting over an ounce per breast during a random let-down was a not a nice thought. Let's see...no leaking boobs, no bulky, uncomfortable nursing pads, and no protruding nipples. Yep, I'm sold!

The pregnant Mama-To-Be's perspective (my sister-in law!):

This is probably one of my favorite products that I have received! As a new, well, soon to be mom one of my greatest fears is breastfeeding. There are so many different products out today that address this fear it is hard to know where to begin. Like other soon to be moms, I have done my research and found that Simply Lily LilyPadz is a product to swear by. These breast pads are made from medical grade silicone which acts like another layer of skin. When applied, these pads prevent breast milk leakage by adhering directly to the breast and maintaining pressure on the nipple. Unlike the more common designed breast pads, with Simply Lily LilyPadz there is no need to continuously exchange soiled pads or clothes. Another bonus is that they are reusable, I’m not exactly sure how it works but with a quick rinse using LilyWash these pads maintain their tackiness for use again and again. All in all, Simply Lily LilyPadz are comfortable and practical, what else could a new mom ask for? I highly recommend these!

Price: The LilyPadz Starter Kit - Single Pair is $36.95

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these pads! I have been using mine for 3 months now, and they are just finally starting to lose their stickiness (the company claims 2 months, but I've been able to get more wear). Would love to win a free set as a replacement, but will be buying a new set if not!

Learned Lilypadz® do not adversely affect milk supply. As long as you are feeding or expressing milk regularly, supply will adjust continuously based on the supply and demand established by both you and your child.

LilyPadz also protect against rubbing and won't stick to colostrum or healing fluids the way cotton pads do

I love that these actually conform to the breast rather than using a pad that you have to stick to your bra. It seems like this would be more absorbent.
