Avoiding Junk Mail Chaos with the Fellowes 63Cb Shredder

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Fellowes. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

I'm in a constant battle with home organization. I seem to always be trying new ways to get and stay organized, especially in my office (which also serves as our school, computer, and play room too). One area we definitely struggle with is the mounds of junk mail that doesn't get taken care of right away. Typically the routine goes like this: open the junk mail, throw away the trash and make a huge stack of the to-be-shredded paper that sits around for days and days. And grows. And grows!

Our junk mail consists of credit card and car insurance offers mostly. My hubby also tends to get a lot of mail that is really intended for his elderly dad --- their names are similar, so we frequently get mail for funeral service information and hearing aids too. It's terribly annoying when you get ten pieces of mail and not one is important! Not only do we have a junk mail overload problem, but we take our privacy very seriously so I have a lots of sensitive documents to shred. Perhaps it's a bit of paranoia, but identify theft is not something we want to deal with. Ever.

Our new Fellowes 63Cb shredder has made a huge difference in our typical shredding routine to help our days move more smoothly. With a bunch of innovative technologies to boast about, this is one shredder that is perfect for our home office and the constant flow of paper that needs to be destroyed.

  • SafeSense® technology that automatically disables the shredder when hands touch the paper opening (perfect for curious fingers and paws).
  • Fellowes’ Jam Blocker technology that prevents overfeeding and stops jams in their tracks, making sure moms can get the job done without any interruptions.
  • A proprietary Energy Savings System, which functions whether the machine is in use or not.

The SafeSense® technology really puts my mind at ease if Buddy happens to be around when I'm using the shredder. It's never an excuse for letting down your guard, but it's a extra safety feature that I'm really happy to have in my shredder. I also love that the on/off switch is on the back of the shredder (out of sight, out of mind!) despite unplugging the shredder between uses as another precaution.

I really appreciate the Jam Blocker technology. When you have a stack of papers to shred, you might have a tendency to get impatient, right? The 63Cb shredder stops running when it senses an overload of sheets, helping you avoid a paper jam. I almost killed our last shredder by overloading it, so this is a very appealing feature.

Those ten pieces of paper? All junk mail, gone in a matter of just seconds. It is so easy and simple, I get giddy just thinking about it! The extra security that comes with small cross-cut particles is also super cool. Also featuring a long 8-minute run time, the 63Cb shredder is ready for big jobs and small ones alike. I don't have to worry about overheating it in just a few minutes if a pile of paper does happen to build up in the future.

With the Fellowes 63Cb shredder I don't have to take out staples or paper clips before shredding, and it even shreds credit cards with ease. This baby can shred a whopping 10 sheets at a time as you saw in my short clip above, and each sheet is cross-cut in about 302 particles meaning my private information has thoroughly and safely been destroyed. The pull out bin is my absolute favorite, because it's so easy to just pull out and dump in the trash. The top doesn't need to be removed and the bin easily slides back in.
Shredding paper is no longer a dreadful task! Our previous paper shredder definitely left plenty to be desired in terms of capability and speed so I would dread the mundane task of shredding. Now we have our new Fellowes 63Cb shredder right next to our office desk, ready to shred at a moments notice. We no longer leave a pile of paper lying around forever, which means my office stays cleaner and I can focus on other important tasks in my day. Fellowes has helped my family get a bit more organized, and it feels wonderful.

Choosing the right shredder for your needs can sometimes feel overwhelmeing. Fellowes has provided this handy infographic to help you figure out what shredder features you need.
