Knowing you're putting food in safe containers will ease your mind and let you enjoy your lunch a bit more (at least for me anyway!). ECOlunchboxes sent me a Furoshiki ECOsnacksack, and an ECOlunchpod to review for you all today!

The Furoshiki ECOsnacksack is inspired by traditional furoshiki eco bags you would find in Japan. Just fill the ECOsnacksack and tie the top to close. These measure 7 inches wide by 16 inches tall and each one features 2 coordinating prints. The beautiful fair trade cotton prints offered by ECOlunchboxes are actually made by Khatri artisans from India who use wooden blocks, screens, and wax batik techniques to achieve the prints you see. Because they are simply just cotton, they can be thrown in the washer and tumbled dry.

I really like about the ECOsnacksack is how light weight it is. It won't add extra weight to your lunch or snack. I also LOVE the unique prints and the fun color and print combinations. I could actually fit quite a bit inside the bag. I was able to fit the ECOlunchpod, a PB & J sandwich, and two Plum Organic fruit puree pouches. Perfect for my son on a day out! Since the bag is soft and would smash inside my purse, I found that I could easily tie the bag to the outside of my purse too.

One thing I noticed is that the ECOlunchpod does not sit at the bottom of the bag very easily. The bag is designed with a single seam on the bottom which does not provide for a free-standing base. I had to hold the little pod down and put other items inside the bag before I could let go. Otherwise the pod would shift and the bag would fall over. 

The ECOlunchpod is great for all kinds of snacks! It holds about 1/2 cup of wet food and is 4 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches tall. It's been independently lab tested and is completely lead-free, food-safe, series 205 stainless steel. Just about the safest material you can get besides glass. These are also dishwasher safe. I used a baby bottle brush very lightly on the inside of the pod, and consequently I've scratched the inside pretty heavily. I had no idea is could scratch so easily!

So far I've put grapes or crackers in the pod for Buddy and he loves having such a fun little container for his snack! What I really like about the pod is that the edges are thick, smooth and rounded. I have another stainless steel product similar to this one and it's edges are thinner, sharp and somewhat hazardous for a toddler. The shape is also great for little hands, and convenient for adult hands just the same. The pod isn't waterproof since there is no plastic seal or anything, but it's not a big deal. The lid is pressure fitted though and stays on really nice and snug. Crackers, fruit, pretzels, nuts, and other snacks are great in this pod, and also help with portion control at home if you need help with that too. :)

This ECOlunchette Kit is also super cute! It includes a zippered-top lunchbag, stainless steel container of choice, a matching napkin and a bamboo spork!

The Verdict: I really like the unique look of ECOlunchbox products. They have simple designs but are overall very effective and easy to use. The quality is great, the prints are absolutely beautiful and it's a chemical-free, reusable way to package your lunch and snacks. They also offer more stainless steel containers sizes, a few other fun products to carry your lunch in, and fun accessories like sporks and napkins.
