Eat Worry-Free with Red Robin's Interactive Allergen Menu {Giveaway - Ends 5/29}

My family LOVES to eat out. It's our favorite way to get out of the house and spend time together. Some might say it's our form of entertainment!

Recently I learned that Red Robin has made it easy for people with food allergies to eat at their restaurants. Famous for their delicious burgers and Bottomless Steak Fries, Red Robin is a family-friendly chain with more than 500 restaurants across the US and Canada. Red Robin serves a wide variety of salads, soups, appetizers, entrees, desserts and signature Mad Mixology Beverages, and they're great at customizing meals to order.

The Red Robin information and gift cards have been provided by Red Robin. All opinions are 100% my own.

Did you know that May is National Allergy Awareness Month? Eating out is a real challenge when you have food allergies or choose to avoid certain ingredients. I have been eating gluten-free for nearly three years, and have found it quite limiting when dining out with my family.

Red Robin wants to help their guests select and enjoy their meal worry-free using the Interactive Allergen Menu in their Customizer Hub. With this menu, accessible on your computer or smartphone, choosing a delicious entree that's gluten-free isn't a daunting task for me. In fact, Red Robin has many options that are already gluten-free, and plenty more that can be modified to suit my needs.

Red Robin’s Customizer Hub on RedRobin.com allows you to test-drive different combinations of ingredients and enjoy their Red Robin menu favorites while keeping within your dietary restrictions. The Customizer Hub gives you two options: “Customize Your Nutrition” and “Build a Customized Allergen Menu.” Since I need to avoid gluten, I used the Customized Allergen Menu to receive menu recommendations.

This is a screenshot from my smartphone showing what I decided to order. Using the Interactive Allergen Menu, I was able to quickly learn what menu items were gluten-free, or could be with substitutions. I was definitely surprised that there were over a dozen meals I could choose from! I also appreciate the added caution about the mushrooms being sauteed on the same cooking surface as eggs, despite not selecting that as an ingredient I needed to avoid.

Ultimately I chose the Sauteed Shroom Burger with a gluten-free bun, served with Red Robin's infamous Steak Fries. I took the recommendations from the Interactive Allergen Menu and skimmed through the restaurant's menu for further details of the items that appealed to me.

Our dining experience was great and we've already been back with my brother and sister-in-law now that I know I have another eatery that works with my gluten-free diet. Our server was wonderful and I was able to request my gluten-free burger without a raised eyebrow.

Red Robin's team members are trained to know how to handle meal modifications, and will put an allergy alert on your order. Red Robin uses allergen kits to prepare all allergen orders so I feel confident that my burger was carefully prepared. AllergyEats, the leading guide to allergy-friendly restaurants nationwide – rated by people with food allergies, for people with food allergies has been recognized as one of the “Most Allergy-Friendly Restaurant Chains,” for the last three years. I'm glad to see that Red Robin takes food allergies and dietary needs seriously.

I am allergic to gluten and dairy. These 2 allergies make it so hard to eat out and order something straight from the menu without it having to be altered. This option to order something I could eat would be wonderful and not make me feel so awkward trying to order food!

Luckily we don't have food allergies but my sister does and having this menu will make it easier to go to lunch/dinner with her.

The interactive menu would help me stay away from the food items that I and my son are allergic to and help us have a good experience while dining out. We have problems with gluten, and fish.

My kids have nut allergies. The interactive menu will help us determine what is safe to order.

I have the food allergies in my family. It makes it hard to try new places, and we don't eat out as often as we would.

I have two boys with food allergies so being on the road is not always easy. One is extremely picky as well as he is scared of eating new things. Food allergies makes eating out hard and our food bills are already high so not often we do feel like we can treat ourself to eating out.

We don't have any allergies, but we love eating at Red Robin

My oldest daughter has peanut and tree nut allergies, so it can sometimes be worrisome to eat out. You never know if a restaurant is really serious when they say "Sure, we'll make sure there are no nuts around her food." I had no idea there were allergy-friendly restaurants like this!

My daughter's allergic to dairy & egg (recently outgrew tree nuts). While I was breastfeeding her, it was a huge burden to try eating out and not leave feeling completely hungry and unsatisfied. It's a little easier now that she's weaned, but still young enough that she's not super picky and doesn't need to eat all that much, but it's still a challenge. We frequently choose to stay home rather than even try to go out. Places like Red Robin that do such a good job with allergy-friendly meals make dining out possible for families like ours!

I am allergic to dairy so knowing what is in my food before I order is a big help to me and having a menu that lets me customize is awesome!

Thankfully we have no allergies known but the little ones are 18 months and 2 months so we are still trying different foods with the older one.

My son has some allergies to seafood. When we go out to place that serves seafood we have to tell them ahead of time. Sometimes we are welcomed and others we are encouraged not to come.

My oldest daughter is lactose tolerance, luckily she is starting to grow out of it! It was very tough to go to any restaurant when she was younger.

My mom is not allergic to lactose but she is lactose intolerant.

My Husband has become very sensitive to Gluten so it really affects our food choices.

I'm allergic to shellfish so I have to be careful about eating at any restaurant that sells seafood. My husband is lactose intolerant so we have to be careful about dairy products for him.

I'm actually the one with food allergies. I'm allergic to peanuts so I have to be aware of food with peanuts or peanut butter - mainly its when I order desserts.

Our 6 year old grandson has a severe peanut allergy so we have to be so careful. Many places use peanut oil for cooking. Very scary! He is very aware and always asks us even when we give him something if it has peanuts in it. The doctors don't feel he will ever outgrow it.

Due to food allergies we can only eat at certain restaurants

Amanda said...

It really doesn't affect our eating out. Dd has to stay away from milk so it's pretty easy to avoid it when we eat out.

Thankfully we haven't had to experience any food allergies in our family. But I think its wonderful that Red Robin has so many options for families that do!

My little sister is gluten free and Dad's girlfriend picks a new "allergy" every week. Trying to eat out with them is sometimes a nightmare, but Red Robin has something everyone can eat.

My kiddo's have several food allergies that range from peanut to milk products, so it's very difficult to eat out. Most of the time we just don't, that's why this is so exciting to us! A Red Robin just opened up in the next town, so this would be perfect!
