Earthpaste :: My New Favorite Toothpaste {Giveaway - Ends 10/27}

Growing up I was always prone to cavities, and each dentist visit was at least one more cavity (sometimes two or three) no matter how good my oral hygiene was. While I'm sure my diet was partially to blame, my toothpaste was always mainstream until six years ago when I started looking into natural toothpastes. I've been completely cavity free for a few years now! I know my diet and inclusion of more nutrient dense foods has helped, but toothpaste is a big deal too. Sadly, my latest favorite toothpaste had carrageenan in it which is pretty controversial right now. I prefer to lean on the side of caution like many natural health experts are, so I was on the hunt for a new one. From the numerous natural toothpastes I researched, my top pick was Earthpaste.

 I received complimentary product for review purposes. All opinions are 100% my own.

Earthpaste is a Redmond Trading brand, the same people who sell Real Salt and Redmond Clay products. Earthpaste is available in four flavors (Wintergreen, Peppermint, Lemon Twist, and Cinnamon) with a retail price of $7.99/tube. The ingredients are very impressive, and of course I had looked into those before I even contacted the folks at Redmond.

 Ingredients (Wintergreen): Purified Water, Food Grade Redmond Clay, Xylitol, Wintergreen Essential Oil, Menthol, Redmond Real Salt, Tea Tree Oil.

See?? Toothpaste doesn't need to have a bunch of crap in it! No foaming agents, artificial colors, fluoride, glycerin, or ingredients you can't pronounce. All the ingredients are from the earth, and it's so safe that you can actually eat it. The Redmond Clay acts as the main polishing cleanser, which is evident after brushing. It often feels like I just returned from a dental cleaning. Check out a run-down of all the ingredients, why they're used, and what purpose they serve.

So how do they taste? We received just the Wintergreen and Lemon Twist, and I like them both. Honestly, I was scared to try them at first. I think I have a taste thing sometimes! But upon opening each tube to take a family sniff test, I was okay and ready to try them. They both have strong, pure essential oil scents that I'm familiar with, and they taste just like they smell. Buddy is still hesitant to try the Lemon Twist, even though it's marketed for kids, but he loves mint flavors so Wintergreen is for him! Surprisingly, my hubby has started using Earthpaste too. He's natural-minded, but often more difficult to convert to healthier products than our son or myself. He easily switched to Earthpaste without a peep, so I know for sure he actually likes it.

Earthpaste has a natural brownish gray color, and the texture of Earthpaste is slimy at first, but it quickly all dissolves once in your mouth. I find that I need to use more Earthpaste than with other natural toothpastes that seems to spread easier, but that's okay with me. The clay adds an interesting, detoxing feeling to my gums when I brush and I like it! As far as effectiveness goes, my teeth feel exceptionally clean and my breath is fresh after. Something odd that I noticed is that there wasn't anything between my teeth coming out when I flossed last. And I'm not a regular flosser by any means so I thought that was intriguing. Hmmmm, it's the Earthpaste!

Like many of you, I carefully evaluate anything I'm putting in, or on, my body. The toxins found in health and beauty products are especially alarming when you glance at the ingredients. In fact, toothpaste has actually been the most challenging products for me in finding an acceptable alternative for my family.With the potential of our young son swallowing toothpaste, our strict requirements have been difficult to please. With Earthpaste I feel like I can finally breathe a sigh of relief! I love the ingredients, it's a very effective product, and my whole family actually loves it too. And it's Earthpaste for the win!

I learned that everything that makes it different and special and healthier and more natural than most toothpastes is what I know would make it perfect for my sister Renee,who I would have it sent to if I am lucky enough to win. Even though she's low income she goes out of her way to try to get natural, organic and healthy food and beauty items when she can.
I love that she has all those flavors to choose from too! Something for every taste! : )
