Rudi's Gluten-Free Bakery : Celiac Awareness Month & Spread The Bread Campaign! Review & Giveaway! Ends 5/30

Rudi's Gluten-Free Bakery has come out with a new product to add to their already-delicious line of gluten-free goodies! Can you say hooray for gluten-free tortillas!? Yep, that's right. Rudi's new gluten-free tortillas come in three flavors: Plain, Spinach and Fiesta. They're not only great for celiac's and those with gluten intolerances, but they even has a whopping 5 grams of fiber in each one. I had the opportunity to try these new tortillas and I'll share my thoughts with you in a moment. But first, let's talk about something near and dear to Rudi's Gluten-Free!

Did you know that May is Celiac Awareness Month? I'm sure if you have celiac disease or have a gluten-intolerance you already knew this! Well, Rudi's Gluten-Free Bakery is committed to promoting the awareness and education of celiac disease and gluten-intolerance, so they are celebrating this month with their second annual Spread the Bread campaign. Basically that means up to $30,000 is going to some fabulous organizations that aim to support celiac awareness.

Through the rest of May, fans of Rudi’s Gluten-Free on Facebook will be able to select one of four celiac organizations to receive a $1 donation from Rudi’s Gluten-Free and will then be able to download a $1 off coupon for ANY Rudi’s Gluten-Free product! You aren't paying a dime out of your own pocket to help these organizations AND get a coupon for yourself, so get going!

Now for my thoughts on these new tortillas! Initially I was a bit worried when I pulled out the first plain tortilla. They are thin and different in texture in my hands than I'm used to in a flour tortilla. When I actually tasted them and the other flavors though, I thought they tasted great and the texture in my mouth was better than expected. The fiesta and spinach tortillas were definitely a welcome break from the normal plain tortillas I normally go for and added a bit of zing and fun. These tortillas do break apart easier than a flour tortilla, so I found that wrapping up a taco or chicken wrap for lunch was a bit interesting and folding one in half for a quesadilla definitely wasn't pretty in the end (but it was yummy at least!). They seem to be pretty delicate! Without the gluten these tortillas are not quite the same texture you would expect from your regular flour tortilla. But for someone who is craving a tortilla and can't have the gluten, I think these are a wonderful choice because they are quite healthy and the different varieties are great!

You are the second blogger I've seen to have tried these. I can't wait to try them. I don't use "flour" tortillas often, but I like the option being available. :D

I want to try the Spinach Tortillas. I miss having wraps, and the gluten free tortillas I have tried have all fallen apart or have been too dry and crack.
