Sprig Toys ~ Dino Adventure Rig Review

There's a great, eco-friendly toy company in town and they've got a fun line up for your kids! It's Sprig Toys! Founded on the belief that it is possible to make environmentally and socially responsible toys without severe cost or value penalties, Sprig Toys has certainly achieved their goal and a fabulous company has emerged!

So, what makes their toys so unique?
  • Sprig Toys are made of Sprigwood. It's a signature, eco-friendly material created by Sprig Toys that is a blend of recycled plastic and reclaimed wood. Sprigwood is a very durable, child-safe, bio-composite, green material that requires no paint since the material is dyed during production using safe pigments that are free of soluble heavy metals, phthalates or endocrine disruptors.
  • Even the packaging is fully recyclable. It's made partially of recycled chipboard and printed using water based inks.
  • Sprig Toys is dedicated to using responsible business and manufacturing practices to ensure a smaller carbon footprint.
Based on all that fantastic-ness, I was thrilled to check out the Dino Adventure Rig for this review!
Features:
1 Adventure Truck
2 Dinosaurs - Mother and Baby
1 Adventure Guide - Rex Jungle
1 Adventure Hat - Interchangeable!
1 Backpack Accessory

The Dino Adventure Rig is one of four non-electronic toys from Sprig Toys' Adventure Series. Sprig vehicles and characters are interchangeable, creating a multitude of imaginative scenarios for your kids. Rex Jungle ( or the "guy" as Buddy calls him!) sits in the front seat of the vehicle and the baby dinosaur can ride in the back "cage" area. It's a nice size vehicle, and is great for indoor play or for treks outside in the dirt or rocks!
To be honest, I wasn't expecting such a high quality toy. I guess that's because I relate lesser known brands (for me at least) with less quality. I have been proven absolutely wrong! While being light weight and perfect for a toddler to carry around, the whole set is super sturdy and very nicely made. I LOVE it! The Sprigwood material is really nice, feels stronger than plastic. Buddy is pretty rough with his toys, and likes to put all his weight on his larger vehicles and run with them across the floor. This has held up really well and holds his weight with no problems at all. He really enjoys the dinosaurs, and makes roaring sounds as he plays with them. So cute!

I would change only a couple very minor features of this product. The little guy doesn't fit snugly in the vehicle. With the way my 2 1/2 year old plays, the guy pops out in 2 seconds and he gets a bit frustrated. The other part to that is that the detachable backpack can't be attached to the guy while in the vehicle. It just doesn't fit! It would be nice if it would. Otherwise I might be facing a lost accessory soon since Buddy will be taking it off all the time!

A unique design feature of the dinos and the little guy is that they have no eyes, and actually no face at all on the guy. In some ways I think they're cute this way, but for a little kid I think facial features or at least eyes would be better for playing. I think I'm going to give in and pull out the sharpie and give them eyes! A bit of a silly thing, I know. I still love this toy set for my son, and have been very happy with it!

Sprig Toys also make electronic toys that have features like lights and sound effects but are battery-free, kid-powered electronic vehicles. How cool is that?!? No running to the store for stinkin' batteries! Their website is also super cute, and when your curser goes over each toy series on their homepage, they move!

Be sure to check out Sprig Toys on Facebook and Twitter!

Price: The Dino Adventure Rig set is $24.99.

The Verdict: I'm really impressed with the child-safe material used and sturdiness overall. This set provides lots of various scenarios for play time too! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Sprig Toys and can't wait to get another set or two in the future!

Buy It: Buy the Dino Adventure Rig!

Very nice review of an obviously fun product for your son! Thank you for sharing the pros and the cons. And I agree-faceless things can be tough for a child.

What a cute toy and I just love that it is made of eco-friendly materials. There aren't enough companies doing that.

Sturdy, quality toys are hard to find these days. It's really good to know that companies are coming back to that as a feature.

My kids are much older now, but it seems like everything was cheaply made.

I will put this on my grandkids list (one day :) ).

Thanks!
