Qrunch Foods :: All-Natural, Allergen-Free Veggie Burgers {Giveaway Ends 6/26}

I enjoy trying new foods, but they need to be gluten-free, and within my pretty strict guidelines for healthy and real ingredients. Qrunch Foods was created with the vision of making something healthy, but that tastes delicious also. With plenty of raving reviews of their line of vegetarian quinoa burgers, it appears that they're on to something great!

Qrunch quinoa burgers can be found in the frozen isle of many natural grocers nationwide. Although frozen, they are fully-cooked and contain mostly organic ingredients. They are free of all the common allergens which means they're gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, corn-free, egg-free, wheat-free, and nut-free. They are currently available in 4 flavors, of which I'll share my thoughts on below. Each flavor has a base of organic millet and organic quinoa, with other healthy organic ingredients such as carrots, onions, garlic, spinach, apple cider vinegar and a few more, depending on the flavor. It's exciting to see a convenience food contain very few ingredients, and also be able to pronounce them all! There are no artificial ingredients, colors, or GMOs at all.

Original - The Original is especially great for your super picky kids, or those that need really mild flavors for whatever reason.The middle seems a little mushy than the others, but overall it's a great option when paired with something that already has a lot of flavor.

Spicy Italian - Get ready for a spicy kick! I'm not a fan of the licorice/anise normally, but the small hint of it is okay in this. When I think of Italian I think of a tomato marinara sauce, so this was not what I was expecting for this flavor, but I do like it.
Sweet Curry with Lentils - This has a pleasantly mild curry flavor throughout, with a slightly noticeable lentil texture. I can't get Buddy to try many new things, but he actually liked this one! This is a great compliment to a salad and I quite enjoyed this flavor.

Green Chile with Pinto Beans - My favorite!! Not super spicy but a very tiny little kick. You can actually smell the beans so this is almost like a bean burger patty but with a good middle texture. This one has the best crunch out of them all too.

Each flavor is pretty distinctive and you'll probably quickly determine your favorite. I'll probably stick with the Green Chile only in the future since Buddy actually enjoyed it a lot too. All the four flavors live up to the Qrunch name and are quite "qrunchy". They're not too "meaty" in the middle and offer a thick crispy crust-like exterior that anyone (vegetarian or not) can enjoy. Qrunch burgers can be cooked in the oven, toaster, toaster oven, or on the stove to get that classic crunch you want. If you aren't a quinoa fan, let me assure you that you'll enjoy these too! I can't even really feel the texture of the quinoa while chewing -- the infamous crunch is what you'll notice most.

 The only thing I would like to see in the future is removal of the canola oil which, as a vegetable oil, is not healthy for you. I'm thinking that's what would account for the fabulous crunchy texture, but perhaps using organic coconut oil will achieve the same crunch? (Organic coconut oil is already an ingredient in the burgers which I'm happy to see) Regardless, it's such a small amount, and with a balanced diet otherwise you should be fine. Overall, I'm happy I had the opportunity to check out Qrunch burgers and that I was able to discover such a delicious gluten-free convenience food for when I really need it!
