I think we all know by now that pre-filled, disposable plastic water bottles by the case are no longer the way to go. I've very excited to share with you my experience with a BottlesUp glass water bottle! This 22-ounce glass water bottle has some great features.

I love knowing exactly what I'm drinking out of with my BottlesUp water bottle. I don't have to question the type of plastic used, or the process. I know it's glass, and it's completely safe! That in itself is helping me WANT to drink more water with it. I'm horrible at getting enough water each day, so if I can make it fun and different, that's even better. This water bottle certainly is fun, and very different!
The BottlesUp water bottle has a really unique design, it's original, and eye-catching. I also like that it's glass opposed to stainless steel because I can see through it to ensure it's completely clean. It holds up in the dishwasher just fine, but I prefer to just handwash it really quick. I usually use it for water, so it really just needs a quick rinse most the time.
BottlesUp has some well thought out features. However, the bottle is still glass so I'm a little paranoid when I use my BottlesUp glass water bottle. It's really only because Buddy is fascinated with it, and likes to grab it off the counter!! It hasn't taken a tumble yet, so I have no idea how well it will hold up. The glass is thick though, and the silicone cap and grips do provide a small amount of protection. I'm excited to see the fleece accessories they are in the process of developing though. Some sort of bottle sleeve would help ease my nerves a little. :) Just like plastic and other materials used for water bottles, it will inevitably sweat from a cold beverage. This doesn't really bother me at all, but it does bother my hubby who prefers an insulated water bottle. The silicone rings are flexible, and grip really well even when wet.

I learned that glass is free of toxins such as Bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polycarbonates unlike plastics
Started reusing bags from the grocery store ( we get mainly paper) for our yard sales and for trash bags. As well as for shipping items from ebay. Also started using reusable bags as much as possible that we buy or get free w/ purchase at the stores.
We recycled our glass and plastic bottles! We also installed light bulbs that were more energy efficient and replaced out shower heads with energy efficient ones as well.
We lowered our air conditioner, so it was not using as much electric. I did not buy water bottles, used tap water.

I am using reusable grocery bags and we are composting material from our house to use for our garden next summer

We do what we normally do- recycle, use cloth napkins, cloth diapers, etc.
We started cloth diapering our son when he was born and we bought some reusable sandwich holders for my hubs and my lunches.

We moved in February, so we are now close enough to a local market to walk there for some of our shopping. We also installed a water filter and invested in a couple of nice water bottles (would love to add to that collection!) that I keep filled and in the refrigerator.

We bring our own glass jars to the market when we're buying bulk goods (nuts, dried beans, flour, etc.).

i'm kind of an old hippy, so its not really about what i did this summer, but how i've always tried to live, yanno? we use cloth diapers, dish towels and napkins, line dry our clothes, compost everything that can be composted and recycle the rest. use reusable shopping bags etc etc etc

This summer, we started our first garden box. Unfortunately, with 60+ days of 100 degree weather and no rain, our veggies did not survive. :( Better luck next year, we hope. We also stopped using paper towels and instead have incorporated wash cloths every where in the house. It has annoyed my mom-in-law since she loves using paper towels, but it's a good thing she only comes to visit once in awhile.

I finally got hubby onto the green laundry bandwagon. He's finally using my homemade detergent and hanging stuff on the laundry line instead of throwing it in the dryer because it's more convenient. We also switched to nonpaper towels, which is frankly easier to use anyway.

This summer we line-dried our clothes exclusively (kinda had to; we don't have a dryer) and installed a solar-powered attic fan! The fan is awesome--it needs such a small amount of light that it even runs during the rain.
I love that the company is so rooted in art, and that the owner is a glass artist herself. So much cooler than mass-produced bottles from a giant corporation!
We stopped using paper towels and started gardening.
