(Closed) Moo Moo Kow Cloth Diaper & Accessories Review and Giveaway Ends 5/3

Today I'm very excited to share with you a cloth diaper company that you may not have heard of before! Moo Moo Kow comes to us all the way from Singapore! Started in 2007 by passionate moms who wanted to make a difference in the environment and in their own community, Moo Moo Kow's goal is to help parents who are seeking a more natural way of parenting. They make One Size pocket diapers, along with other accessories to make a complete line of cloth diapering products.

Here is the One Size Pocket Diaper I received in the Seaspray color! If features a waterproof PUL outer shell, a suede cloth inner lining, 4 rise settings, and an aplix closure (snap closure is also available). The pocket for stuffing inserts is in the back, and 2 inserts are included with each diaper: infant and toddler sized. Need a boost in absorbency? Use both together! The pocket has tons of room! This diaper is beautiful, and so detailed. The quality of the materials and workmanship are just flawless! You can feel that only high quality materials are used.

On the smallest setting for newborns, one tab has velcro on the outside so the other tab can be crossed over to fit a little newborn belly nice and snug. On the right you can see how large this diaper gets, and all the snap rise settings.
 

 

I really like the rounded shape of the front panel!

 

Although the diaper stayed up well on Buddy, the sides of the front panel try to bunch a little and point downwards instead of to the side since the fastening velcro is only a small square, and doesn't attach to the entire front panel. I adjusted the velcro and minimized this small problem though. It was never full on wing droop and I think the design of the diaper helps avoid it. The elastic between the legs going up towards the top of the front panel is loose enough to not pull down the front panel, but tight enough to ensure a good snug fit around the legs (like shown below!).

As you can see, the diaper features a nice amount of material above the aplix front. This is SO nice is helping avoid horrible red marks and rubbing bellies raw. Although most the time it did roll down, it still managed to do the job in protecting his skin from the rough aplix. I really like aplix closures if the velcro is nice and sturdy, and doesn't cause the big belly tummy rubbing! This diaper fits the bill for an aplix closure diaper! Not to mention the trim fit, great absorbency, and comfortable design!

Moo Moo Kow has confidence in their diapers, and even includes a 1 year warranty. I received an informative pamphlet with the diaper with washing instructions, and helpful advice. Each accessory I've outline below also came with a little description of how each product works, similar to the descriptions on their website. I found this extremely useful, and hope other cloth diaper companies will take note and follow suit!

The hemp insert is awesome for heavy wetters like Buddy. It's relatively thin, yet extremely absorbent. Made of 55% hemp and 45% cotton, hemp is a popular choice for use in cloth diapers due to its durability, absorbency and natural anti-microbial properties. This thirsty insert fits perfectly in with the microfiber insert, and you can even fit a second insert if needed for night/nap time.

Although I'm not breastfeeding at the moment, Moo Moo Kow was very generous in sending me their Bamboo Nursing Pads to review as well. I've never seen such uniquely designed nursing pads before! They are made of 3 layers of absorbent bamboo, and come with a removable case that is PUL on one side, and soft suede on the other. When worn with the case, you have fantastic overnight protection, or extra protection during the day when you need it. The suede will help keep moisture away from your skin, helping you keep the area dry and free of infections. I'm so impressed with these, and look forward to using them when I need them! I love the PUL on the case so you can avoid embarrassing leaks! As an alternate use, the bamboo pads can apparently also be used with astringents, face wash, makeup remover, and more once you're done nursing. How clever!

I also received a Bamboo Cloth Wipe. Wow, this is one super soft cloth wipe! It has one side of Bamboo Fleece, and one side of Bamboo velour and is serged around the edge. It's approximately a 7 x 7 inch square with rounded corners, and is a generous size for holding in your hand. I LOVE luxuriously soft wipes like this for wiping up Buddy after meal time! I also love the suggestion from Moo Moo Kow to use the cloth wipe for mommy as a facial wipe or make-up remover. Hello! Where have I been?? Time to confiscate some of my favorite wipes from Buddy's face wipes stash so this mama can get pampered every morning! :)

Price: The one size pocket diaper in aplix or snaps is $21.90. The hemp insert is $8.03, the nursing pads are $6.57, and the cloth wipes are $4.38.

The Verdict: I wish they had retailers here is the US so more cloth diapering mamas could have the opportunity to try Moo Moo Kow! I'm hoping this happens in the near future because I want more! There are so many well thought out features of this diaper. From the high front panel, to the high quality materials used and great fit, this diaper is absolutely excellent!
