(Closed) Suburban Tree Hugger, Econobum, and Plan Toys Review & $25 Gift Certificate Giveaway Ends 5/1

Suburban Tree Hugger is a great online cloth diaper store that carriers some of the most sought after brands of cloth diapers and accessories. You will also find a nice selection of Plan Toys, some diaper bags, feeding accessories, Envirosax reusable bags, and reusable feminine products too! There is FREE US shipping all the time and great low prices. You'll even find a clearance section where you can get 40% off some amazing accessories too!

I first came across Suburban Tree Hugger while looking at Bummis diaper covers last year. Reesa, mom and owner of Suburban Tree Hugger, was a fantastic help and answered my questions with a great amount of knowledge before I made my purchase. Since then, and I've been nothing but pleased with my experiences with her, and she has great communication as well (even with a little one between her and the computer screen!). I have no doubt she takes care of all her customers in the same caring way!

Upon receiving a gift certificate to choose my review items from Suburban Tree Hugger, I first chose a cloth diaper cover and prefold I've always been curious about. The Econobum Cover & Prefold Set has an amazing price at only 9.95, and is definitely an economical way for a family on a very tight budget to easily get into using cloth diapers. Although we all know cloth diapering costs FAR less than disposables, the initial cost of starting a cloth diaper stash can be one of many intimidating factors for families who are new to cloth. So, I wanted to "test" a less expensive option for you all!

The Econobum Cover is a One-Size cloth diaper cover, meaning it should fit from birth to potty training age for most babies weighing 8-35 pounds. The cover is made of 100% Laminated Polyester and the prefold is 100% Unbleached Cotton.  There is one row of adjustable waist snaps, and 3 rise settings to accommodate almost any baby. Each tab has 2 snaps to help avoid wing droop, and to help achieve a good fit. The row of adjustable waist snaps and each set of 2 snaps on the tabs are reinforced with an extra layer of laminated polyester. The cover is SUPER thin, but is still of great quality. There are 4 colors to choose from. The plain white that I received, and 3 others that are made using colored elastic trim, but still a white laminated polyester.

Smallest setting for the rise and waist on the left, and the largest setting for the rise and waist on the right.
Cover on the small setting using the small fold for the prefold.
The prefold can be folded to create a small or large size by changing folding directions. However, the prefold did shrink a little after washing, making the large fold fit the small setting perfectly. As a result, even the large fold on the medium or large setting caused the prefold to get lost in the cover when it was on Buddy. The prefold sat VERY low on his bottom under the cover no matter what setting the cover was on! Also, because the cover is SO thin, it looked a bit silly!

Buddy is around 33 pounds and he was actually between rise settings. The photo above is on the medium setting. On the large setting, there was WAY too much material in the back and the cover was very high up. The medium setting caused the rise to decrease significantly but then the back looked a little more "normal" and seemed to fit best. Either way, I had a hard time finding a good fit with the rise and bottom together. The elastic around the legs always had a great fit regardless of the rise setting.

With 2 snaps on each waist tab, I was able to prevent wing droop. However, the top of the front panel of the diaper kept trying to poke out the top. The tabs also poked out quite a bit on each side too. Although these were just aesthetic dislikes of mine, they did not effect the performance of the diaper. Overall, it still had a pretty trim fit. I had no problems with leaking, but since I have a heavy wetter (he LOVES water!), I didn't keep him in this prefold and cover for too long.

I also choose to review the Plan Toys Turboprop Airplane With Pilot. This little airplane is so cute!

Plan Toys are made from natural, non-toxic materials like Organic Rubberwood and they use only water-based colors. They are a "Green Toy-Green Company" based upon their safe, responsible, and sustainable practices as a company. I LOVE knowing my son's toys are made with care and are safe!

I love this little airplane! I couldn't really tell how large or small the airplane was from looking online, but it's too cute to pass up! It turned out to be much smaller than I anticipated, but it's the perfect size for the little hands that it's meant for. The little "guy" (as Buddy calls the Pilot) can stand or you can make his lower body swivel so he can sit in the airplane and be attached by a small elastic loop over his legs. The propellers and wheels all move. Despite all the details, the airplane has held up very well to the normal abuse of a toddler! I definitely plan on purchasing more Plan Toys in the future. The Plan Toys Helicopter with Pilot is calling my name!

Price: Overall, Suburban Tree Hugger has great prices, with little to no noticeable mark-up to account for her FREE shipping to you! The Econombum Cover & Prefold Set is 9.95, and the Plan Toys Turboprop Airplane With Pilot is $15. Very reasonable for each in my opinion.

The Verdict: LOVE Suburban Tree Hugger! Can you tell?? :) Despite the issues I have with the Econobum Cover & Prefold not fitting Buddy as well as I'd like, it's a great choice for some mamas out there! The Plan Toys airplane is just DARLING and I highly recommend it for mamas with little boys! Buddy LOVES it!
